The American Red Cross Mission Statement
The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will help provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.
The Red Cross expects all staff to meet the highest standard of professional and ethical conduct. Conduct that interferes with business operations, discredits the Red Cross, or is offensive to customers or fellow workers will not be tolerated.
All staff are expected to adhere to and practice the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement:

• Impartiality
• Neutrality
• Independence
• Voluntary service
• Unity
• Universality
All registered volunteers and paid staff are required to sign the Code of Conduct, as a condition of employment and volunteer service with the Red Cross. Signed Code of Conduct copies are placed in the personnel and volunteer files.
